The basic task was to monitor the position and speed of the vehicles and to obtain objective data on their actual operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The solution is based on <strong>on-board unit installed directly in the vehicle<\/strong>, which continuously records <strong>GPS position, vehicle speed and selected operating parameters<\/strong>. Speed is determined by a combination of GPS and <strong>incremental encoder<\/strong>, which increases the accuracy of the measurement. The system also includes <strong>Driver identification using RFID tags<\/strong>, with the reader within easy reach of the operator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The on-board unit allows <strong>data acquisition from the CAN bus of the vehicle<\/strong>, providing detailed information on the vehicle's operating conditions, loads and behaviour. This data is fed into a higher-level system for long-term traffic analysis and fleet optimisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The system includes <strong>security and surveillance functions<\/strong>, such as generating SMS alerts when speeding or leaving a defined area. For service and analytical purposes, a PC application is available to enable <strong>reading the tachograph<\/strong> and work with historical data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on operational experience, these units have also been used for <strong>monitoring of public transport buses<\/strong>. Retrieved from <strong>real operational data<\/strong> was used to analyse the transition to <strong>electric buses<\/strong>, especially in terms of routes, speed profiles and operating modes.
