For the company Corr-El, s.r.o. we have developed Multichannel Registration Voltmeter, designed for accurate measurement of electrical potentials and related quantities in systems cathodic protection of pipelines. The device allows sampling of pipeline potential - ground at precisely defined points in time, synchronized by GNSS and L-band correction, which ensures unambiguous time assignment of measured data to individual switching cycles of cathodic protection stations (SKAO) and their correct evaluation.
The solution is modular and distributed: the bottom board contains a low-power STM32U5 microcontroller that controls the measurement, processes data from the individual ADC cards and provides communication with the higher-level system. The top board provides graphic display with foil keyboard controlled by a separate microcontroller, which increases robustness and allows flexible user interface expansion.
Measuring part consists of four independent ADC cards, each with its own high-precision converter and microcontroller, interconnected via a BackPlane PCB to distribute power, signals and synchronization pulses. This approach allows high accuracy, interference suppression and precise timing between channels. The device is housed in a durable transport box, suitable for off-road use and safe handling.
The voltmeter supports the measurement of multiple types of potentials and electrical quantities, extends existing measurement ranges, and enables the diagnosis of AC and DC corrosion effects. The result is technically complex, modular and expandable device, which enables efficient collection of accurate data in the field.
